Creating Your "Braveheart Moment"

“They may take our lives, but they’ll never take… OUR FREEEDOM!!"

  --William Wallace, Braveheart

Behold the power of a good speech. Whether delivered on the silver screen, in the locker room or at the steps of the Capitol, well-placed words almost always ignite activism and empathy (and sometimes even riots) among the audiences fortunate enough to hear them first hand. Some folks get goosebumps. Others shed tears. But all experience an emotional response that reflects the aptitude of the speaker and the gravity of the speech.

In a sense, that response is what IgniteOKC is all about… well, on a smaller less emotional scale, of course. When you submit a presentation (or talk, as we like to call it) you’re effectively creating your own little “Braveheart Moment”.

For five minutes, you open a door to your passions and proclivities and you invite everyone within earshot to walk through it. And unlike our friend William Wallace, you also get 20 slides to aid your audience on its journey.

People might not be as into Dungeons and Dragons as you are. But choose your words and images wisely, and they might just give the 12-sided dice a roll…

…or change the way they think about Oklahoma City…

…or march into battle against the King of England.

Anything’s possible with the power of a good speech.
