Why Your Boss Sucks: and how to avoid his fate

Let’s face it. Most bosses suck. It’s not just that they
tell you what to do. They don’t know what you do. They’re incompetent and
unfortunately, they’re not going anywhere. In this talk, David explains why
your boss sucks by exploring the Peter Principle, which says that everyone
eventually rises to the level of their own incompetence. He also explains how
to avoid the fate of your sucky boss by ignoring promotion opportunities and
focusing on your passions. Just because your boss sucks doesn’t mean you have
to.

Yes, most bosses do want to control you.  One of the reasons my boss wants to control me is because he knows I have the capability to take over the business.  Bosses who want to control you are insecure and lack the discipline and professionalism it takes to be a person "in charge"  and have a hard time controlling their personal lives as well as their professional lives.  Someday I will be the boss!

Isn't this sort of a "kill all your drive" kind of talk?  Isn't getting to the top about making it better?  Shouldn't you want your bosses job?  As a former boss, I always wanted my staff to want my job.  It makes better employees.  Bosses don't have to suck.  They can be supportive, engaging and compassionate.  This just says, if your boss sucks, don't try to get his job.  Turn down advancements because you may suck too.  This is a horrible idea.  Sorry.  If you don't people's reactions, change your actions!

This is exactly why I'm now an entrepreneur. Although, now I'm not quite sure how I feel about the statement "why your boss sucks." Just kidding, this subject will help lots of people. I'm thankful I learned similar lessons from Mr. Robert Kiyosaki about 10 years ago.

Why would a boss want you to be more able than he or she? Their job is to keep you "under control".  in  other words. you will never be "good enough"... cause then if you were, wouldn't that make them look incompetent to be in their position?
