The first ever Ignite OKC is just a week away. And thanks to your support (not to mention some stupendously interesting talk submissions) we're expecting a sellout crowd of more than 270 to pack Lyric Theater for the event.

If you're one of the lucky few who registered for a FREE ticket, here are a couple of reminders: 

- There is no "will call." If you don’t have an Eventbrite ticket... you don’t have a ticket.

- You will need the print-out of your ticket to get in the door.

- If you are a greenie, you can show us an electronic view of your ticket on your smartphone.

- If you forget…you’ll need to get in the “general admission” line.

So you've submitted a talk for Ignite OKC. You've come up with a clever title and crafted a description that will surely lure voters your way. You've bulleted out your points. You've timed out your speech. You've made certain you actually have five minutes worth of things for people to hear...

But wait.

What about what those people will see? You panic. Rifling through your ideas, you scour Flickr and Google Images looking for anything that will help you illustrate your topic. You have to put something on the screen. Anything. Right?

Slow down there, gipper. There's definitely a right (and a wrong) way to aesthetically augment your talk.

Behold the power of a good speech. Whether delivered on the silver screen, in the locker room or at the steps of the Capitol, well-placed words almost always ignite activism and empathy (and sometimes even riots) among the audiences fortunate enough to hear them first hand. Some folks get goosebumps. Others shed tears. But all experience an emotional response that reflects the aptitude of the speaker and the gravity of the speech.
